Stress Shielding is a major problem causing increasing requirements for revision surgeries to remove and replace fracture fixation Implants.
Higher Strength and mismatch in elasticity in bone and conventionally available materials is a major contributing factor. In this work, we have developed an additive manufacturable porous design for stainless steel implants that possesses both enough strength and reduced stress shielding effects.
This work is currently under review for consideration in publication in the Journal of Mechanical Behaviour of Biomedical Materials
